The Canyon and Beyond

March 17

We left Cottonwood and climbed I-17 to Flagstaff and beyond. Snow pelted us most of the day and the grind to achieve the 7000 foot level and beyond meant that we did not make good time and the MPG was far below 8. As we neared the cutoff to the Grand Canyon, Cailyn stated, “Let’s do it.” It made sense. We parked the RV at the local store/gas station and we boarded the Jeep for the 29 mile trip to the Desert View. The highway was bare, and as we arrived,
the wind subsided and the skies were blue.

Tonight we are camped on Lake Powell. Pictures of this area come tomorrow. Enjoy our
photos of the day.

Pictures: Janie, in stoller on the rim, Nathan and Cailyn planning the next shot, and Barb and me.
