The temperature dropped as yesterday's rain storms signaled the cold front coming in from the north. It was sunny but only in the mid 60’s today. Time to head further south. We drove about 130 miles south and inland to Peace River Thousand Trails Park near Wauchula, one of our membership campgrounds. This will be an interesting experience. First, the RV will not move for two weeks. Secondly, it is a membership park and RVers come here because the membership fees cover the daily fees. The setting is not in a tourist or a scenic attraction. The two weeks will center on appreciating the weather and interacting with fellow campers, all of whom are snowbirds. I guess I could compare it to a summer camp for old people. And, lastly, Barb will be gone for a week.
My surprise Christmas gift to Barb was an airline ticket home. She will leave on Thursday and return a week from Wednesday. It is about the halfway point of our trip. I scheduled the two weeks here at this time to allow for her trip home. It should work out well as when we leave here we will be heading into some of our country’s most unique landscapes, the Florida Keys and the Everglades and then begin our trip home.
I will not be blogging daily in the next two weeks. I’ve have some good books to read, will work on the RV, and will spend considerable time on my bike and in the pool. As you can ascertain, I will not suffer.
