It was even warmer, 70 degrees at 9 a.m. and even more muggy. The rain started at noon, sometimes very heavy. We hunkered down to research, plan, write, and read. I again needed a break after 3 days of “pounding the pavement” on these dysfunctional ankles. Barb was right. The city was welcoming yesterday. It would have been miserable today.
I feel called to send a torpedo into a stereotype. New Yorkers are often labeled as loud, caustic and opinionated. Some are. Some in Puyallup are as well. We have found New Yorkers to be welcoming, respectful, proud, resilient, hard working, resourceful, and helpful. It is crowded here. And New York, like other huge cities we have visited, has its own peculiar odor which is a blend of diesel and gas exhaust, cooking aromas, and the wafting emissions from sewer vents. We could live here. We have 19,995 restaurants to go.

Thanks, Norm and Barb, for your wonderful comments and journaling of your trip. Bill and I are going to take notes of where we want to visit. Thanks for your research, too. I am sorry to hear that some facts still are not verified. All we can do is try to find them. You certainly went to great lengths. Keep having a wonderful time, and thanks again for sharing your rich experiences.
