Leaving AZ

This will be our last night in AZ this year.  It has been a great stay.  We had anticipated spending some relaxing time here in the El Mirage Resort but the 11 days have been very busy.  We have gathered with 8 sets of friends, almost double the number we had anticipated.  Lots of Washingtonians and Canadians flock to this area through March.

The resort, what I call a "winter camp for old people," is dominated by activity.  As I sit outside the computer lab, seniors, on their bikes or walking, are on their way to the many morning activities.  I attended a Qi Gong session on Tuesday a.m., my first such experience with that exercise routine since China.  Lawn bowling, golf, pickelball, shuffleboard, tennis, the pool, horseshoes, softball and tennis dominate the outside activities.  The indoor activities are too numerous to mention.  One example is jewelry making.

Last night we gathered at the home of Bruce and Kris Orness who had invited George and Barbara, acquaintances that we had not seen in 21 years.    Tonight, after packing up the RV, we will head over to the Surprise complex to attend a night game.

Tomorrow eve, hopefully, finds us on the shores of the Colorado River (near Parker, AZ actually closer to Earp, CA) where cousin Karen and her husband Bill spend the winter.  More fun times ahead.  I will miss the colorful quail that frequent this area, often walking right through our RV site.
