The weather was predicted to be nice till noon so we hit the road early. The 1/2 mile pier is only a few blocks away. We walked out past the surfers and enjoyed the fabulous sites from the water. Some of the surfers were my age or older.
Then we slowly drove down the Sunset Cliff area all the way to Point Loma.
On the point, the Cabrillo National Monument has a lighthouse and incredible views of Coronado Island, the Bay, and downtown San Diego across the bay. The view also revealed the incredible number of military installations in the San Diego area.
Facing west, the open ocean sometimes can display pods of whales this time of year but none were sighted today.
By noon the wind had increased and a light rain began to fall around 2 p.m.

Sounds like being "stranded" in treating you well! I love San Diego.
